Alsancak, located in Izmir, contains a lot of great places to explore. From its seaside locations to small streets, there are a lot of cool locations to buy souvenirs and have a great time on a sunny day. A well known street containing a lot of great little stores to buy bracelets, necklaces and other accesorries you might want to purchase in your daily life. This street is blocked to vehicles to make it easier for pedestrians to stroll, explore and enjoy. It contains different celebrity names all throughout the street. There are a lot of palm trees to make the views more enjoyable. If you are also into secondhand vintage books, this location is a must visit.
Kordon is said to be the most enjoyable location in Alsancak. Best thing to do is to grab yourself some snacks, some drinks, some portable chairs and sit out in the sun with your friends. It is also a great place to watch the sunset and lounge in the gardens. Besides the greenery, Kordon also has a lot of pubs and fishermen. After a midday chat, pick the location that suits you best and enjoy some traditional rakı in one of the pubs to end the day.
Said to be the first railway station in Anadolu, the Alsancak Station is filled with a lot of ancient sites to see. It was created back in 1858 and is still preserved to be one of the greatest locations to see in Alsancak. If you want to see the old trains and mechanisms that were used to travel, we would recommend a visit.
This tower is another one of the older buildings that has been preserved to this day. With 4 fountains and 4 watches, The Watch Tower was built back in the 1900’s. It is 25 meters long with 4 stories. Even though there are different watchtowers in Izmir, we would recommend visiting this one as it was asthetically built different.
Right next to the bay and the Konak Square, Kültürpark is one of the places that is really easy to access. There is public transportation ie. buses and metro lines that you can use to get to this location. Considered to be one of the most touristic places in Izmir. There is also an open theater, amusement park and fairground to see.
Built in the 1800’s, this inn was one of the most popular places to trade. It is also a great place to shop. It has a lot of small shops that sell all kinds of accessories, carpets, hats etc. You may also go and sit down and have a quick bite to eat with several coffee shops to sit down and enjoy a chat session with your loved ones. If you are into drinking some traditional coffee and shopping for some souvenirs, then this inn is a must see.
One of the historical places to see are the houses all throughout Kordon. These houses still have those old look feels on them from the times back in the Ottoman Empire. Even though some of them are being used as an operation station, you can always check out the houses from the outside and admire the overall architectural design.
